At Braidwood, recruitment is done carefully, or not at all.
We are an independent, founder-led practice based in Glasgow and working across the UK, placing permanent and contract professionals into roles where judgement, discretion and a real knowledge of the market genuinely matter.
Technology
We work across engineering, data and product — the individual specialists and the leaders who build and run those teams. Our appointments range from senior individual contributors to heads of function, in organisations from early-stage firms to large institutions.
Risk & regulated markets
We place people into the risk, security and governance roles that keep regulated organisations sound — across financial services, energy, health and the public sector. It is specialist territory: the intersect between technical understanding, institutional judgement and the patience of regulated processes.
Professional services
We handle appointments in the specialist professions organisations depend on quietly — advisory, risk, operations and corporate services — where the right hire is recognised more by reliability and judgement than by title.
A small book of assignments
We take on a small number of searches at a time and give each one proper attention. Depth over volume is the whole idea: a search we run is a search we can stand behind.
Direct, throughout
Every client and every candidate deals with the founder. There is no handover to a junior team, no dilution of responsibility — one conversation partner from the first note to the outcome, and after it.
Seen through personally
To us an assignment is not finished at the offer. We stay close through notice periods, start dates and the first months in post — the point where good placements are actually made good.
Alongside the broader practice, we run a dedicated desk for appointments in emerging roles — the professions as they form, from AI governance and assurance to climate and data ethics: the positions new enough that the market around them is still being built. It is where much of our attention sits, and it has its own page.
If you are hiring
A short note about the role and its context is the best start. Before anything is searched or sent, we talk the brief through properly — the organisation, the constraints, the realistic shape of the field — so the search starts from understanding rather than a template.
If you are considering a move
A few lines about your work and the direction you are weighing are enough. We keep in touch honestly: no churn of unsuitable roles, a straight answer when something is not a fit, and a conversation when it is.
